Margit Schultheiss

Margit Schultheiß was born in Koblenz (Germany). In 1985 she was awarded the first prize for harpsichord during the Bundeswettbewerb "Jugend Musiziert". She followed an education in historical keyboard instruments with Glen Wilson (Musikhochschule Würzburg) and Jacques Ogg (Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag) where she completed her studies in 1994. Looking for an instrument which offered more dynamical variety and transparency in sound she took up the historical harp and moved to Bremen to study with Andrew Lawrence-King. Working mainly as a continuo player, she performed in most European countries and the USA. She took part in about 40 CD recordings with various early music ensembles including Bell’Arte Salzburg, Weser-Renaissance Bremen, LauttenCompagney Berlin, Estil Concertant Valencia, the Johann Rosenmüller Ensemble Leipzig and the Orlando di Lasso Ensemble Hannover.
